Default Fun Weekend Wrenching

On the last fun run I noticed the temp on the Z06 kept climbing up slowly after I hit the 210* mark, first time since I got it in 2008. It runs at 210* no matter what I put it through. It was hovering around 260 when I got home from the 200 mile drive. 100* weather. Probably the radiator is plugged as I haven't cleaned it out ever. I figure this is a good time to give the cooling system preventative maintenance.

The water pump is a GMB with a FlowKooler impeller. It is a brand new casting with new parts, just the impeller changed out. I'm running the Water Wetter, 3 qts of DexCool and the rest distilled water. San Diego doesn't have freezing weather.

The thermostat is a high flow Motorad 160* and the recovery tank cap is a 15 lb Motorad. If you are looking for an A/C Delco cap they are 18 lb caps, this is the replacement part for the original 15 lb caps. I figured the Gates belt was US made and the Dayco somewhere else. Exactly the opposite.

Another reason I'm going to 160* route is I sent the computer out for a tune at East Coast Supercharger (ECS) and reinstalled it yesterday.

There are a couple of other things on the list, new right and left window regulators...

...and putting new stainless steel screws and caps on the tail lights. I have them modded with the flush kit.

Then it's time to repaint the rear licence frame, front licence plate surround, and the screens. Then time for a clay bar and inside/out side cleaning.

You're going to have a busy, but productive weekend. Good luck with all the work.

Busy weekend ahead! Last week I did belts, hoses, coolant, and pulleys myself. I didn't think about the overflow cap...thanks for the reminder.
