Default Need help making C5 exhaust quiet

Here's situation..

Live in town-home community and basically everyone dislikes me because I wake them up every morning. Now moving next month to another complex and want to make friends with neighbors.

Setup..

ARH 1-7/8" headers with ARH x-pipe without cats and B&B Bullets.

Would replacing the Bullets with stock exhaust not cause the neighbors walls to rattle when started inside a garage? Or would I have to replace more?

Any input will be helpful
Thanks

I'd go with Ti's.

+1 for Z06 Ti exhaust + cats if you felt inclined to do so. If those are hard to come by and you don't mind doing some cutting and a little welding, C6 mufflers would work too. OR simply finding an aftermarket exhaust with a box type/chambered muffler (what the cars originally had).

Or you could just not make any friends because they sound a little boring.

I find it odd that in modern day society neighbors can play music all night and drink alcohols; rodents can scream at the very top of their lungs for days on end and stab each-other with pointed sticks; Dogs may bark and defecate nearly indefinitely; a renovation can occur next to you with big bearded men using those pneumatic pecky things. But you drive your hot-rod a couple times a week and all hell breaks loose.

Make sure you take off the exhaust before you move and rev the heck out of it. Then change it at your new place. 😀 you'll forever be remembered.

I don't know where you live, but if you do those things after hours around here the cops come and issue you a citation. We sleep well in these parts.

The B&B Bullets are loud. Adding cats and a different cat back will make a world of difference.

If you still like it loud sometimes, cut-outs might be an option you want to consider.

Stock C5 exhaust with headers? Perish the thought!

Get the Z06 TI exhaust. Much quieter than the B&B's and much better flowing. If you get a used system, make sure it is the 2002-2004 system. The 2001's had an extra set of cats, which will rob you of power.

starting it in a garage (presumably with the door open) probably echoes the sound and focuses it. might make it even louder outside.

The b&b's down help.

go with the Ti and if you really need the sound, add electronic cutouts for those times when you just gotta let it breath a little

since you are starting with one of the loudest setups the answer is easy. Add in hi-flow cats and a ti exhaust.

Are these actions acceptable behavior in your hood? What ghetto do you live in?!?!I would own an Abrahams tank in that hood, nothing that resembles a Corvette forsure.

I had corsa extremes, they were great until I went to 383, cam, headers, with cats, it was way too loud and I have no neighbors to worry about, went with stock Ti and it is a huge difference. There are guys pushing out over 800hp through them!

The Bullets are loud even without the headers. Yes, replacing them with something like a set of Tis or even a less aggressive aftermarket catback would help.

The earliest I drive home from work is at 10:30 PM and that's the reason I went from a bullet muffler to the LG big 3. It's not stock-like quiet, but it's not brash like the bullets.

The rest of my setup is 1 7/8" Kooks with the high-flow cats 3" all the way back.

There's no way tiny mufflers that are just this side of straight pipes can be quiet. You need a real muffler unless you want your neighbors to call the cops on you for a noise violation every day.
