Default Sad day...

After 7 years of driving my Corvette back and forth to work and enjoying every minute of it, it was time to send it down the line for something more "practical" and I am now driving an Explorer.

As twins now are driving the 4x4 trucks I need 4 season wheels and the 'vette is unsafe in cold weather.

Yes, we have seen 170 down an airport runway and a sweaty hands 140 in traffic on the road course.

Over 80,000 great miles it needed gas, oil, tires, brakes, shocks, headlight bulbs and a window regulator. It got 30 mpg at 80 mph on the highway and could burn off a set of tires in an afternoon.

I remember driving Caitlyn to the airport for Airborne School and Thomas driving home from high school giving his friends a parade wave with cramps in his face from smiling so hard.

The end of an era and an amazing car. Get these kids out of the house and it's a new Stingray for me. 2 years and counting!!!

It was a great ride and I will miss her. After 7 years just sitting in the car still made me smile.

Sad day indeed. I bought my Z going from a 4 door (325i) with 2 kids. We have a minivan for that. I've never owned a truck or SUV for my use, don't ever intend to or hope I have to (other than if I do swap the 325i for a different winter vehicle).
Hope you have no regrets when you see others enjoying their sports cars. Enjoy in 2 years I guess...?

We have long winters here, why my daily driver is an old jeep Cherokee, I would've kept the vette and bought a beater 4x4 for winter

Sad, but wonderful, recount of your C5 experience.

Believe me, the wait for the Stingray will be worth it! I just picked up a '14 Z51 M7 as a new dd and I can't wait to get into it at the beginning and end of each day. It's the C5 experience X2 (although I still own and love my C5).

Best of luck!

Family priorities always come first so can't fault you for getting something more practical for your needs. Good to hear that at some point in the future another Corvette will be in your garage.

I just had a similar sad day on Monday after selling my c5 after almost 4 years. It was not my daily driver, but still special. It was time though. Shortly ordering a 2016 Camaro 2SS with all the options.

That's why I have a four door as a daily driver and the Vette is my weekend warrior, along with my Victory Kingpin.
