I would California Duster it then wipe it down with detail spray like Chadwicks or Mequiers, That's what I do after every trip. I don't use soap and water unless I drove on a muddy road.

Do you live in a particularly dusty area or near manufacturing plants (like refineries) that might emit acid based particulates? If so, wash, dry, cover.
If not- then I probably wouldn't sweat it if the car normally lives outside.

As for the car, if all that is on it is dust, just use the California Duster to get it clean again.
