No start
Just got my 04 out of the shop Friday after they replaced the torque tube. Drove it home (10 miles). Went to the store Saturday (2 miles). Car started, put it in reverse to back out and it died.
It's currently at the dealership but I'm curious if there is something they could have left unplugged or damaged to cause a no start condition. Engine cranks but acts like it isn't getting fuel. Sorry, didn't get to pull any codes.

Yeah, not much to go on. What I'm hoping is they may have forgot to plug in some wiring on the saddle tanks. I "think" the engine feeds from one tank and the pump transfers fuel between the tanks. Since I have less than 1/2 tank, one side may be empty. Not really sure how many parts he had to remove to get the torque tube out but it looks like the saddle tanks might have been in the way.

yes, haven't had any problems with the gauge, has slightly under 1/2 tank. Was just curious is that gas could be in a tank that isn't feeding to the engine. Guess I'll find out Monday when the mechanic has a chance to look at it. Thank god for extended warranty. Cost them close to $3600 for the torque tube and labor.

Well, got raped. They found "intermittent ground circuit in connection". Of course no fault of the stealership that this connection failed just after they worked on the car.
$85 labor, $77 tow bill, $5.95 shop supplies. Luckily there are several other dealers in the area.

Nope, no codes. Car just died. Had to be something in the fuel system, probably the fuel pump that transfers gas to the other tank.. Pretty sure he had to unplug the harness that runs alongside the tunnel to get the torque tube out. Either didn't plug something back in or screwed up the connector. Don;t think it makes good business sense to lose a customer over something so trivial. No parts needed, looks like about 1 hr of labor.

Just as an FYI there is only one electrically powered fuel pump on the C5 (also the C6) and that is the one in the drivers side tank. It feeds fuel to the motor and also delivers a small stream of gas to a jet siphon pump located in the passenger tank. The siphon action causes fuel in the passenger tank to be "siphoned" into the drivers side tank in larger volume than the stream the fuel pump feeds to the passenger tank. So if the problem was fuel pump related it had to be the connector to the pump located in the drivers side tank or the ground for the fuel pump..
Dealer was very foolish NOT to take responsibility for the problem since they worked in that area.
If it were me I would be having a LONG talk with the service manager and if I didn't get satisfaction I would be talking to the general manager. But that is just me when someone I pay for service screws up.
