C6 shifter install in C5
What all is needed to order from GM to install a C6 manual shifter into a C5. Do I just order the shifter, or do I need a boot, ****, etc. Thanks

Whether or not you need a new boot depends on what **** you use. As mentioned above, you'll need a different **** from your C5 one--the C6 **** is locked in place by a set screw, rather than screwed onto the shaft as the C5 **** is. If you go with a C6 ****, you can use your C5 boot with a little modification. The C6 **** is a bit fatter at the base, so I trimmed the top of my boot til it just fit around the base of the C6 ****. Then I turned it inside out pushed the base of the **** through the boot from the "outside" side, and slipped an O-ring around the boot and ****. I put the **** onto the shifter shaft (with the boot still inside out) and tightened the set screw. I then flipped the boot right side out and snapped the lock ring into place in the bezel.
