I went around and around looking for hood insulation. I bought this Z06 off a guy who didn't two ***** about detail the same way I do. His idea of a good looking C5 was putting aftermarket rims more narrow than stock wheels. So anyway I've spent months slowly getting the car the way I want it. I fold a kit through Ecklers for $198. It was supposedly insulation and plastic covers for each piece. I paid an additional $13 for large box delivery. A box came from the manufacturer not Ecklers and it was not oversize. I opened it to see the plastic was the same size as the insulation. After 2 months I still don't have my refund. I did get to keep the insulation pieces which you can see one in the picture. Spray adhesive and tape were also included along with useless hardware. I used the insulation and adhesive. Threw away the rest. I searched for weeks for a GM insulation hood cover. I finally contacted local Chevy dealerships. $189 out the door. Other vendors including a junk yard Dino's Corvette wanted $200 for shipping plus $100 for a used cover. Then I said why not search GM parts on Google and found delivered to my door $145 brand new.
I spent another $20 at Ace hardware store for the plastic push clips that hold the liner in place.
All done
Insulation pieces fit right in the well space in the hood.
I opted out of the tape just because of the curved edges. The glue should hold just fine.
Please tell me why ? I thought my wires hanging there looked terrible. I now have a heat barrier to the hood. I plan on getting a new paint job next year same color. Just curious what your reasons are for removing it. Was it falling off or torn ? If not did you sell it ?
Didn't look that good, I removed the light too, as it hit my catch can. I still have it, as will probably put it back on when I sell hood, once I go to an aftermarket hood. A lot of people remove them, doesn't seem to bother paint, and I have a SC too. If I was going to get it painted, I would definitely leave it off and have underside painted too, will look a lot better.
