So, I just got back from the dealer and he wants nearly $900 to fix my right head light which works fine, lights, BUT on the way back down the gears scream like crazy!
Something is grinding under the lid.
I am considering changing out the head light for some C6 look a likes...
Man, don't spend $900 at the stealership. That's insane. Gear replacment is very common issue on these cars and the fix is less than $50 and a little of your elbow grease. Plus the fix is permanent as the new gears are metal instead of plastic. The members here will help you out if you let them.

I bought the kit but haven't installed it yet. I may wait until the spring.
The big issue here is that C6 "look alikes" on a C5 look like crap. The flip ups are much better suited to our cars.

I agree with the others - no sense paying mega bucks for a dealer to do the work when you can replace the plastic headlight gears with brass gears for a fraction of the cost. I have a number of Word files that detail the repair procedure and if you'd like a copy, just PM me your e-mail address. I can't attach all of them here on the forum due to the size of the files.
