I currently own both. a 93 C4 Auto with 20,000 miles - bone stock and a 04 C5 Z06- 40,000 miles making 435 to the wheels. I like them the same for vastly different reasons. Thing is, they are both tons of fun in completely different ways. I test drove a C6 Z06 and (flame waiting) didn't like it as much as either of the other two. I wanted to though, was willing to part with both to get the C6... Just couldn't do it.
I went from a 1992 to a 2002 Z06...difference was night and day. ONLY thing I can say I missed from the C4 was the tight/secure cockpit feel. With the C5, the seats were a definite step in the wrong direction...they are essentially slabs. Combine that with the capability of the Z06 and you're all over the seat under lateral loads.
The C4 chassis flex and twist is obvious compared to the C5+ though...tremendous chassis improvement is obvious. That said, I look at pics of my 92 and do miss it. It was my first, the 2002 Z was my second, though I've had four come and go in between, while retaining my Z06. I think the C5Z is the most perfect set of compromises in the modern lineup....in accordance with what I like about a car.

LB, that was a smart choice you made, and a great color to boot. Trust me, the C5 will not disappoint. I don't think it will take you long to realize that, if you haven't come to that conclusion already.
Your C4 on the other hand is something I would seriously consider hanging on to if you can swing it financially. Always good to have a backup vehicle and even better when it's a Vette.
Good luck with your C5, I hope it will be trouble free for you.
Went from a 89 to my current 03 Z. The Z dominates in all categories, but damn do I miss my 89. Probably cause it was my first Vette. Would love to own another, but this go around I'll be getting what I want in a C4-Admiral Blue.
Congrats on the C5. I recently went from a highly modified C4 to my 50th Anny.
I was sick of the noise and constant desire to mod or change something else with my C4. I don't have that fever with the C5 yet. I hope I can restrain myself.

I would but I spent every dime I have on the c5.lol. need to sell it, and I only am gonna drive one. Don't have the ability to keep a track car.
I'll miss it tho. Such a nice car. Underappricated

I understand.... Been there myself many moons ago. I wish I could help you out as far as buying it but, I already have a 1986 Vette that still needs a lot of cosmetic attention/restoration, an S10 ZR2 in the same boat and still modifying my 2000 Vette but, those are nice problems to have IMO
The C4 definitely gets a bad rap from the earlier models which is a shame because it is such a capable platform. It made it's mark on the track and history books, that's a given. My first Vette was a '92 then I had a ZR-1, and I truly wish I still had that ZR-1 but, at the time and finances the C5 was the way to go, and it's been almost 12 years of bliss.
I'm sure you will miss the C4 but, I'm betting you won't regret your decision going to a C5.
