Default First real Drive Today...

Well I have had my 02 Vette for 2 weeks now...due to the Holidays and all the Rain we have had...I have not really had a chance to get out and driver the car...I test drove it the day I bought it...but of course you can't drive it the way you really want to with a sales guys in there with you..I drive 45 miles one way to work..combo of back roads, 2 lane highway and interstate...so 90 miles of pretty much everything...took her to work today..Keep in mind this is not my DD...I am in a full size 2013 F150 4x4...so a little different...But I have to say it was a blast..of course it's a 14 year old car now...but with only 47k on it ...she runs like a champ..handles great and even though it's not a Z06 I was very pleased with the amount of get up and go the 350hp puts out....I have wanted a Vete since I was 16....I will turn 55 next March...so Glad I pulled the trigger and fulfilled my dream of having one...it's been 47 years of being on 2 wheels...turned lose of my 14 Harley for this Car...No regrets...being it's a Convertible I can still get out next spring with the wind in my hair...Thanks for all the info and input on this Site...

I hear you brother, I had the same experience with my 99 FRC. I currently own a 2014 EVO as my DD so, of course the vette doesn't feel as tight as that but, the torque and feel of RWD is just awesome. I didn't break any laws, but I did get on it pretty hard with traction control off onto the highway and was like .

I also agree with wanting a Vette, I'm 30 and have wanted a C5 since 1998. I actually rather have my C5 then a C6 or C7 due to that feeling of desire when I was younger and saw my first C5. I also don't have any regrets not spending the extra cash on a ZO6 because my plans for the car aren't really in the direction of a ZO6. I plan on doing a LS6 intake, and most likely FI via supercharging since I've yet to own a supercharged car in my life. With the C5 FRC, I get the style and the extra budget room to make my FI route possible.

Congrats! Can you throw up a photo here also?

-Joe

Welcome to the madness. I like you wanted a corvette all my life. Bought my first one at 47 (C4 vert auto) and then followed up with a 00 vert 6 speed, same color as yours and now I have a 04 Z06. Always wanted the Z06 and it's a beast. I do miss the 00 vert, because top down is a blast but I do love the Z06.
