I am getting ready to install a six point cage ( custom made and welded ). The big question for me is whether to gut the door hardware or leave in. I will know better once I get measured by the installer and see were my arms hit. I would love to see some member pics of their cages to get a better feel for options. Most importantly the door sides. I have searched a bunch but have not found a lot of pics. I am using an open trailer so that is main reason to consider keeping side windows.
You may want to check in to the Roadrace/Autocross section. As for the side windows maybe a Lexan drop in would work (If Im guessing right that you want side intrusion bars). Check out Phoenix prep T-1 C5s.
Thanks Mark. I found a older post with some good options ( lexan, crash wrap and making cover with boat snaps ). I was just hoping to gather a few pics of different side bar builds before I commit. I did see the Phoenix ones and they appear to gut the side door hardware. I saw another maybe not from Phoenix that did not. I guess bottom line is how tight a fit I'm willing to deal with.
There's lots of C5s running around with a 5 or 6 point bar installed. The door bars are removable for when you're not at the track. Full interior. The door bars do not interfere with the door panels at all. And plenty of room while seated.
Wolfe and some other companies make bolt in bars that seem to be acceptable. They mostly bolt in.
Thanks Capthuff but I am making this a dedicated track car with welded cage. I dont drive it much on the street other than to check repairs. Living in metro Atlanta leaves no fun driving this car on the street. So I choose to only trailer to the track. I will post pics when I get cage completed.
