Just installed wilwood 6 piston brake package, and had to use a 1/4" spacer to clear calipers from hitting rim. Will this at all throw off handling of car?Was told might effect camber?
Camber is camber, unless you put in a cheese wedge wheel spacer its still the same degree.
1/4" is not huge. Some will argue a change to the scrub radius etc. LINK
I think the two things I'd worry about first are:
1. Stud length. Did you install longer ones? Or need to?
2. Hub centric aspect of the wheel. Are the wheels/studs no in sheer? No register with the spacer?
What Todd is talking about is fact that the hub has a lip that sticks out and engages the wheel to locate it. In that case the studs aren't keeping the wheel centered. This is referred to as being "hub centric". Most spacers are deep enough that the hub lip is no longer engaged on the wheel and isn't centering the wheel anymore. This puts higher loads on the studs since they are in shear now.
Really good spacers are hub centric and have a lip that extends that feature to your spaced out wheels. If your spacer is about the width of the lip then you can't do that. Lots of folks use spacers with longer studs on the track, it's very common, but NEVER use a spacer without longer studs you are asking for trouble.
If you are going to track the car you should start hanging out on the roadracing and autocross page in the general section. That's where the track rats hang out and you will find a wealth of information on setting up your car for track duty there.
