Hm. I've read through several threads in which members were raving about their flat stick. Sorry, but can't recall their names.
I believe you have to modify the stock boot slightly, by removing a few stitches near the top, folding the top into the lower boot, and securing with a rubber band. In any case, you'll love your MGW. I love mine.

Here is mine. I did not do anything to the boot. But the rubber was already cut on the tunnel plate so there was a aftermarket shifter in the car before I bought it. So it could have been done prior. I don't think it has.
No problem. I think it is shorter than stock. My stock shifter was cut and the mgw is short than it if I remember right. I love my mgw. The quality compared to stock is a night and day difference.
Thanx for the feedback. Yea my stock shifter is pretty loose. Can feel its worn out. Cars got 54k on it. Looking forward to the upgrade. Was looking at other shifters but i think MGW is the only one that eliminates the plastic cup on the ball in the box.

Comments like this always get me. My Z has about 46,000 miles and I would rate my shifter as tight to the point of being almost notchy. I need to post a video and compare with others...

So I take it you've never driven a car w/ an MGM shifter (or any quality short throw)?
B/C the stock shifter is a piece of chintzy dog poo. Take it apart and compare it just from a visual and tactile point to the MGW and there pretty much is no comparison.
Drive a C5Z w/ an MGW vs. stock shifter back to back and you'll really feel the difference. Stock shifter belongs in the garbage, only reason mine isn't is because I plan on keeping the car a long time and maybe it'll be worth something someday and its always good to have all the original stock parts on hand. So its in a plastic bag in a box along w/ some other old stock parts.
I have the newest design MGW w/ lower box and their gripper **** - best mod for the $$$ hands down (other than maybe intake/tune combo...MAYBE)
Sorry not the best picture but the only one I have available. There's a rubber ring that goes around the top of the boot that nobody seem to put on here
