Default Euro tail lights installation

Both myself and a friend got a set of Euro tail lights red/amber with the wiring harness. The install is straight forward however, my question is this. What do the lights look like without the harness installed and just the stock wiring harness used? In addition, there is white wire which requires being cut under the footwell of the dash. What happens if you use the harness without cutting this white wire? My buddy doesn't want to cut any wires on his car to install these tail lights.

If the white wire is not clipped, when you apply the brakes both the red and either amber or clear portion of the taillight comes on at the same time. Clipping the white wire allows the amber or clear portion to only come on when the turn signals or flashers are activated.

I believe by not using the euro harness, the lights will not work as designed. It is a simple install procedure so no real reason not to use the correct harness.

Thanks Vetteman. So if the white wire is not cut, both the upper and lower lights will flash with the blinker on? am I correct? The white wire only separates the stock harness from the new one.. It would be the same with the stock harness, with the exception of the amber lights not coming on. In order to go stock again, one would have to reconnect the white wire again. Geez, my explanation sound difficult to understand. LOL..
Thanks for the help.

Yes, once you clip the white wire, you would have to reconnect it in order for the stock lights to work properly again. My advice, and how I did it on my '00 when I installed the euro lights on it, is to not clip that white wire really close to the connector. That way should you ever need to reconnect the wire, you will have a little wire on each side to splice in a new piece.

Not sure about whether or not both upper and lower lights flashing when the signals are used if the white wire is not clipped. It's been about 13 years since I did the install on my '00 and I just don't remember that part of it. My advice is to contact the vendor and ask that question.

Clip wire and crimp one male and one female to the wires. Plug back in to return to stock. Easy peasy.

The "Euro" lights use SEPARATE bulbs for turn signal function. The harness comes with them for a REASON.

If you don't use the correct harness you won't have enough sockets to illuminate both sections of the lenses. The whole purpose of the Eurolights is to have a separate directional from the brake and taillights.

Also, you don't have to cut the wire. You can simply remove the White wire terminal from the connector so it can be reinstalled at anytime.

Go to any LMC5 eBay ad and watch the install video. He shows you how they are removed. There are probably others you can find directly on YouTube.
