Is a lot of brake dust normal on a Z06 or am I just in the break in period. I used EBC Green Stuff on my Viper GTS. I have some wheels coming and I need to know if I need to swap my pads to loose the dust.
Jeez, you ought to see the front wheels on my Audi. The ZO6 hardly produces any brake dust compared to that.
I learned a good trick from the german car though ... put a good coat of wax on the wheels, and the brake dust is a hell of alot easier to clean off :)
The stock '02/'03 pads dust like craaaaazy, and it's the stickiest dust I've ever seen. I can't deal with it anymore. I have a set of ceramic pads on order.
4 k miles and it is still dusting. Found it is best to clean weekly with Simple Green and a towel. Comes off very easy. That is the cost of such superior stopping power.

Agree completely. Longer stopping distances and less dust go together if that is what you want. Not for me, I like the shorter stopping distances.

Some people go to the '01 pads or to the standard pads. I wouldn't worry too much about stopping distance for non-competition driving, particularly with the older Z pads. The best 60 to zero time for a Z that I've seen was from an '01.
I drive my car hard on the track and street, I love the pads, why did you get a Z06?
I often drive my car hard on the street, but I don't push the brakes to the limit, and the only track it will ever see is a dragstrip. Ceramic pads do a great job stopping the car on the street, albeit with increased pedal effort--and no dust or squealing.
I didn't buy a Z06 because I like sticky brake dust that turns clean gray wheels into black wheels in 2-3 days, that's for sure. If you need the stock pads, fine. I don't.
Look for the recent post by levette girl about the stock pads keeping her from hitting an idiot who pulled out in front of her. Put some polish, (zaino), on the wheels and wipe them off once in a while. Having great brakes is a wonderful thing even if you don't go to the track, best to have them whem you need them........
