I have a 2002 Z06. Gonna replace the valve springs this week. This will entail disconnecting the battery for the work.
I read through the Owner's Manual about reconnecting the battery. The only thing of honorable mention is the anti-theft code for the radio. I no longer have the stock radio. I have a nice Kenwood unit with XM Satellite tuner and Bluetooth.
Other than the radio issue, it appears that the reconnection of the battery prior to start should be a normal, unremarkable event.
I have disconnected my battery since my Kenwood installation and upon reconnecting I haven't lost any radio settings, so you should have no problems at all.
An 8mm internal ratcheting box end wrench will make life much easier when disconnecting the battery.
Roger all the previous responses. My work is now done and the valve springs have been replaced and the car is back in "battery," so to speak.
As for my radio, the Bluetooth recognition of my phone was still good, but all my pre-set channels for regular FM radio and XM radio had gone away, had to set those back up. Also, the clock had reset to 00:00, and all the speaker and stero-sound settings had reset back to default.
