If you have the stock fog lights on the car now, I do not think HID bulbs will work in them without a ballast. Before you make the purchase, touch base with forum member and vendor theradioflyer and see what he has to say and what he can do for you in terms of a good setup.
This is the kit I bought. It works fine, but I have RadioFlyer's bi-xenon headlamps, so the foglamps don't add much light. By themselves, they are much better than stock.
Your factory wiring is rated for 35w. a 55 setup COULD present an overload issue.
I ran a 55W ballast/4300 Temp HID fog light bulbs for a couple of years and they were very bright. So bright that they almost served as secondary driving lights (avatar pic) and I actually got flashed a few times when I also had my ACA pop up HID lights engaged.
However, after a few years, they began to blow a fuse if didn't have the engine already running when I engaged them. I then did the research and discovered that as stated above the factory wiring is rated for 35W.
I just completed my upgrade to RadioFlyer's Bi-Xenon ACA headlight kit and decided to replace my original 55W fog light ballasts with the recommended 35W ballast. Certainly not as bright as the 55W ballast, however I feel better knowing that I'm not overloading the OEM wiring. Still a lot brighter than the factory halogen bulbs which IMO had the light output of a weak flashlight.
Note that when you install the HID fogs, you will need to aim them due to the better lighting. The OEM halogens are so weak, that even if they are mis-aimed, you probably don't notice it.
Also most of the wiring you see on Ebay Hid kits aren't sufficient, being that the car is low to the ground and most of the wiring is crap anyway its good to add flexible conduit to these wires. I have had ballast fail on me due to the cheap wiring and adding flexible conduit has helped me on the current ones going on a a while now.
