Default Missing window blow out clip

Hi folks,

2004 Z06 here. My driver's side window blows out at high speed and I have determined the blow out clip is missing. It is installed on the passenger side window. I've already adjusted the window tip-in to max, but doesn't eliminate the blow out. Besides removing (without destroying) the weatherstripping, installing a new blow out clip and re-installing everything (hoping I didn't make things worse), are there other creative options to solve it? Yes, I know I can make it stop by driving less than 80 MPH.

Or, does removing the weatherstripping and resealing everything with a new blow out clip an easy job with little to no risk of destroying expensive parts?

Thank you kindly!

I found removing and then reinstalling the weatherstrip and metal retainer was pretty easy.
Just be aware there are retainers on the weatherstrip at each end. Then it is just removing screws and reinstalling them. Relatively easy.

Thank you for the reply. Can I safely pull the weather stripping away from the car to remove it? I don't want to tear it - it's an expensive part. I assume the weather stripping pops in/out of the channel rail, which is what is secured by screws to the roof, and also holds the blow out clip. I have the diagram for how this is all assembled. But, I am not exactly sure of the safe removal procedure. Thx

The weatherstrip comes off the car very easily. It is possible all you will need to take loose is an area near the clip. On my car there was some sealant at the rear upper corner and at both ends of the weatherstrip. If you need to take all of it off just be careful at those points and you should have no problems.
