over kill to change before then after, these are LS engines not Ferrari engines. i'd rather let it sit with the old oil then put fresh when i start to use it SINCE the old oil really does not have miles on it, if it was at 10% oil life remaining then yes i would but not a car with 75% remaining
I've owned a C5 for 11 months and have already done 3 oil changes.
I drive my 2015 Z51 when I want to drive a Vette. This is an Anniversary edition convertible automatic. My five-year old says keep it clean and it's hers.
I have a 2003 with under 20K miles. I use Mobile 1. If I don't put enough miles on the car to warrant an oil change; how long should I wait to change to oil?
Thanks, RoyC7
My dealer told me that the main reason for the failures of oil pressure sensors was storing the Corvette with dirty oil. I don't know if he's right- but it makes sense, and few have offered a better reason.
But... as far as yours, I doubt if your limited miles each year even qualify as dirty oil. Still- store it w/ fresh Mobil 1. It will sleep better.
Most of these replies totally miss the most important point!! Are you aware that you can be brought up in Corvette Court for Premeditated Corvette Abuse for not putting enough miles on it regularly to keep it happy and healthy?!?!?!? Corvettes have rights too, you know!!
Don't be surprised when you get served with Cease Ownership orders due to Neglect!!
103400+ on mine now and she is very, very happy every morning!!
I don't buy it. I believe the real reason is crappy oem sensors. Owners who have had to replace their sensors have done so with aftermarket sensors (the brass ones) and have had far fewer if any problems afterwards.
I agree. Like all of the usual things that go bad on these cars, it's a quality, design or materials flaw. EBCM solder and relay, floppy visors, harmonic balancer, rocking seat, fuel gauge, headlight gear, etc are all examples.
No one is saying to change the oil both before putting the Vette away for the winter and then again after bringing it out after winter storage. Yes, that would definitely be overkill, but no one is suggesting that at all.
