Just curious where you guys like your shift points tuned at. Mine are set at 6200 on stock motor with cold air. Retuning in a few days I put in a 3200 stall and long tubes with x pipe. Going to tune out the rear O2's and touch up a few things here and there.
I'm guessing your running a Auto, I had ECS tune mine(mail order) and he set mine rev limiter to 6200,(I have a 6 speed) and I hit the limiter now and then because I guess I,m too old and slow to get it in the next gear fast enough ?????? well not really a couple times when I was passing someone and was paying more attention to the road. In 1st and 2nd it gets there quick !!!!! after new valve springs and such I might have it bumped up !!!!!!

Yeah I'm auto. Thanks for response. I'm just curious what everyone is doing. My shift was set at 6200 and limiter at 6500. Moved it down to 6000 when I started slipping at the top of shift. That's how I found out trans was taking a crap. Lol. Putting everything back in now but I may just leave it at 6000 for now being I don't do much racing anymore.

Assuming the car is stock or bolt on's, you are not making power over 6000 rpm either way so there is no point in over revving it anyway. It drops off hard.

..... After all things in place, you could put it on the dyno with a tune and it will tell you were your torque peaks are. Torque moves mass (car weight), not RPM. Since doing that on my 66' Nova SS with a auto back in the day, I picked up over a 3/4 sec. in my 1/4 mi. times. Set my shift light to my torque peak/RPM accordingly, hence short shifting, and never over revved my engine from there on. Good luck in having fun !!
I'm shifting higher but then Comp says the power range of the cam I bought from them is 2200-7000. Have the auto set to shift at 6800 and limiter at 7050. Have seen a hair over 7000 in HPTuners data log.
Power is essentially just torque times rpm. If the torque isn't dropping off very fast then it's likely the horsepower is still climbing as the rpms are climbing. Have to also take into account where the engine is in the power band in the next gear as the 4L60 has big differences in ratios between the gears.
