Was looking at a c5. Would like a daily driver. Salt on a c3 is very bad. Did the code check and found ebcm ones and other electrical codes. Ya, the acid marks under battery, a leadacid type, was also a killer.
Had seen others with less miles and better shape for only 2 to 3 tho more.
Would still rather have a c6 or new 7.
If they would come down 3 tho on the c6 I like woulda had it by now. Still woulda had to keep it parked as 10 below zero is a bit cold. That is just the air temp.
I like the C6 too (and the C7 also) but they still are holding their value. In a year or so will reconsider. Would love a GS but probably will have a C7 before they depreciate enough for me. Good luck

Hope you don't give up on a C5 - there are plenty of them out there that do not have any problems. That said, nothing wrong with a C6 either if you can find one within your budget.
At one time not long ago I seriously considered a GS but I love my C5 too much and being I can't keep two of them the GS idea was scrapped..............for now
I was never a corvette guy until I saw a c5z back in 2009 or so and fell in love. The FRC style was just different in a way that I couldn't put my finger on, but it was the coolest car I had ever seen. I remember asking my buddy "what does z06 mean? This vette just has something different about it that I can't get enough of."
Since buying my c5z other generations have grown on me, but nothing has struck me the way the c5z did.
It's a buyer's market on new Vettes so keep hunting until you find the perfect one for your budget. If all goes well I'll have a C6 GS and a C7 Z..but my next Vette is gonna be a Midyear..
