C5 Torch Red Touch Up Paint
I'm considering buying a 1999 Torch Red FRC. The exterior has a few chips/nicks/scratches in it. I can likely get a great deal on it b/c of these defects but I'm wondering how effective touch-up paint will be in restoring. I know touch-up paint wouldn't restore its original luster, but would it look good enough? See attached pics. What do you guys think? Would touch-up help with a job like this?

I did my front bumper, also "torch red". I used Dupli Color in a shaker can. Its all in the prep. Sand down with at least three grades of sand paper. Use a primer, the Dupli Color and a clear coat. It came out great.

IMO, if you just slap on some touch up paint from a bottle, you're going to notice it quite a bit. As runner140* mentioned, using some spray touch up paint, some primer and clear coat will provide a better finish. I would probably just spring for a professional repaint of the rear fascia, but I'm pretty picky about my car. I guess it all comes down to what you will accept.
with the guys, it's all in the prep. I will try the paint with the front license plate cover before painting the back, you can always buy a new one in the same color. Good luck !!!
