This has probably been covered many times, but couldn't find using search feature. My hood struts are weak and no longer can be relied on to keep hood up. I'm wondering where other members got there new ones? After market or GM?

Most AP stores carry name brand struts like Strong Arm, Stabilus, Sachs, etc. That's where I would recommend you go. Remember, GM doesn't make these. They are manufactured FOR GM by outside manufacturers/vendors like some that I mentioned.
Your best bang-for-the-buck is AP stores like NAPA, Pep Boys, Discount Auto, etc. If they have a choice, you're usually better off going with the slightly higher priced units. Think quality........

Reason: name correction for 87vette's benefit
Thanks to all for the replies. Ended up getting them from O'riellys. They are the Stabilus brand, which is the same company that makes them (oem) for GM. With tax they were slightly over 40 dollars.
