My Noah car cover is already ripping after 3 years. My brother loaned me his and said he doesn't know from what but it makes little marks on the driver fender. That made me think. Does anyone use blue painters tape when covering their car outside. placing it at high areas of rubbing fenders and esp. the edges of the bumpers.
Mine is covered outside although under a carport, but I use a good spray wax like Mcguires or Chadwicks on the affected areas everytime before covering it. Takes all of 10 mins and over the last 3 years there are still no marks(mine is speedway white).
This cover came with the car when I bought it and it has held up very well so far. It fits the car nice & snug so the wind doesn't whip the fabric over the paint like some other covers thus reducing the damage.
Do NOT use masking tape on your car unless you're gonna paint it and remove the tape before the week's out--especially if the car's in sunlight or in a heated environment. Say, over 75*.
ALL "Painter's tape" is masking tape. It might be a different color from the generic off-white color, but it's all "masking" tape. The glue dries quickly and will leave a residue that can be very hard to remove if you're lucky. Baked on, it can scar a painted or non-metal surface permanently.
