Default Need 4 new tires for 2003 z-06

Can't seem to find matching recommended tires. I can locate front tires, but no tire manufacturers seem to have matching rear tires available. Production of rear tires is not on any manufacturer's agenda, it seems. Tire dealers say minimum 4-6 wk. wait, if lucky! What are we supposed to do if we need tires!!??

My choice and recommended by Tire Rack is the Continental Extreme Contact DW or DWS if you wanted a good performing all-season tire. I'm going to use the DW's soon on my own Z06, since the tires I have been using and grown fond of were discontinued, The Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's. Michelin has just recently announced the tire I was planning to use has also been discontinue, the Michelin Super Sports. Actually it is not the whole line, it is just that 295/35-18 tires are being discontinued.

It kind of sucks that it is so hard to find stock tires in the Z06 sizes. The two mentioned above are good alternatives though.

Nitto Invos or NT05's are great tires.

Unfortunately, true! It's a bad situation.

OP tell us how you use your car? Is it a daily driver? Do you track it? Is it a weekend/car show toy? Letting us know how you use your car will help us with recommendations. Example, I have a 04 Z06 that is a weekend/car show toy. When I replaced my OE good years after some research I bought the Nitto NT-05's and I love them.

The car is a daily driver, mostly locally, (lifetime Florida driven ) with 56,900 miles on the odo. Best price I found was on treaddepot.com for Toyo P265/40ZR17/96Y (fronts), but the rears (P295/35ZR18/103Y may or may not be available for at least 6 weeks or whenever Toyo decides to manufacture this tire. I have found this to be the case with other tire manufacturers: fronts available, but rears not in production.

I remember 8 years ago when I was heavily cautioned going with a 19/19 wheel setup. Folks were telling me that I was going to have a HARD time finding tires that size.

How times have changed, and now its hard to find tires in stock Z06 sizes...

I agree. I wonder how the other 34,508 owners of C5 Z-06s are managing to find replacement tires!!!

I would try to hang on, as best as possible, and wait for fresh stock to come in, so you're not stuck with older tires that have been sitting in a warehouse for 3-4 years.

I had that happen two years ago, when I put new tires on my C-5. I bought them from one of the better known, CF site sponsor, but since the front tires are used on many more cars than just Corvettes, their production date was only a few months prior, when I received them. The rears, since their usage is more limited, were just over two years old. I called and complained, but they told me that was the best they had, at the time, and it was either wait an undetermined time for new stock to arrive, or live with them. They did, however, offer a 10% discount......

JMO if my car was a DD with no track time I would go with the Bridgestone RE760. I was going to get them but because my car will seldom if ever see rain I went with the Nitto's. Everything I read about the RE760 tells me it is a decent all around tire that can be bought in OE Z06 size for a good price.

Thanks for your help, but price is crazy! Would love to have the Toyo tires ($129 per front; and $204 per rear (if the rear tires were available!!) Guess I'll just wait it out.

I don't know why it sounds like some of you are panicing. I mentioned back in post #3 that Tire Rack and DiscountTire both recommended to me that the Conti Extreme DW is an excellent tire, highly rated. Available in the sizes we need. I will be buying them and I'm 18" front and rear. Michelin PS2's are also available if money is no object. Michelin personally offered me a 25% discount on them but I feel they're still too expensive. BTW, my everyday Chevy came with the DWS's standard equipment and they are very impressive tires. I really like them.

You can bump up the front tires to 275 and be OK, you can get the 275 size in the Continental DWS, but they are discontinued. The rear is no problem and is even available in the newest DWS06 from Continental.

Bumping the front size up really opens up a lot of options for tires.

I went through this same issue last summer when I purchased Z06 stock wheels for my 2003. Thought I'd buy Michelins but the only two choices in matching sets were the Bridgestone's or GY. I went with Bridgestone. They were very reasonable and I like them.

Bridgestone Potenzas here. I like them almost as good as the Michelins I took off it.

I checked at Costco about 2 months ago and Michelin PS2 were still available, but at about $1600! I have Potenza RE 760 on my "93 Z28 and they are OK. I have Michelin Sports AS3 on my DD as well as my wife's DD and was looking forward to PS2's on my C5Z, but maybe not. A lot of $ for a 20,000 tire.

Just went from nearly 10 year old Toyo Proxes to new Bridgestone Potenzas from America's Tire. Thanks for recommending them. With all the rain, I haven't driven them enough to tell a difference.

When I called Michelin last year they no longer make a matching set for the Zo6 wheels. Tire rack only lists the GY's and Bridgestone. I think I paid around $700 for the RE 760 plus a $70 rebate, Can't beat that price for great tires.
