So don't get me wrong I love my 2007 c6 vert m6. Its a beautiful car, only has 27k on it, has the first stage upgrades on it ( corsa x pip, exhaust, halltech, and tune) and is my baby, but there are a few things about the c5 that they should have never got rid of. First of all the front end. I guess I am one of the few that miss the flip up headlights. Its such a clean look why would they remove that. It gave the car a dimension when you were driving it with the headlights up that would truly allow you to see the front end. Made it feel like a go-cart. Next are the fog lights. I HATE my fogs in the c6, old *** looking rectangle lights that are way to big and look like they are from the early 90's. I wish I could put the c5 lights back in the car.
Now for the interior. I feel chevy made the interior on the c6 cheaper than the c5. I loved the switches for the windows, mirrors, and instrument panel that were that soft rubber. In my opinion the interior was way tighter and had a much for foreign feel to the finish. Not sure why they went to that plastic switch that is the same as you get in a Malibu. What were they thinking. Of course the radio in both SUCK vs the c4 I had, ( that was when the interior of a vette was truly a vette in my book).
Just curious does anyone else agree with this? Have you guys kept your c5 based on any of these topics.......

I've heard these, and many other complaints about the C6's. That being said, it's still an amazing platform. There may be a few styling touches I'm not a huge fan of, and I agree the interior is a step in the wrong direction, but I'll be upgrading to a C6Z in a few years. For all the wrong that they did with that generation, they did MUCH more right, and I can wait to get into one personally. BTW, we need some pics of the two to compare. Enjoy your new baby, but never forget your old C5.
LOL, well since you asked I keep my C5 'cause I cant afford a C7! Get out and enjoy your C7! PS I do like the hidden headlites and agree they should have kept them, but then people would be saying...so old school, cant win!
To be honest, I miss my C6 . . .had an early September `04 Precision Red Z51 coupe and am ready to replace this C5 with another one. It's not that I don't like this car . . .the Electron Blue has grown on me and the car is immaculate....I guess that's my problem- I'm done with it- and bored.
The headlights were changed to give a flash to pass feature, even in daylight. That's required in Europe and other places as well. We live in a global economy and it's too expensive to make different mods for all of the countries these cars may go to. I agree on the interior - could have been so much better. Overall though, the C6 is a much improved car in most respects. Congrats on the upgrade!

Have never owned a C6 or a C7, but have owned three C5s. I really like the look of the C7 (albeit it does seem to have its share of problems), and just never warmed up to the C6 with the exception of the Z06, GS and ZR1.
I do like the flip up lights on the C5 and while it gets its share of complaints about the interior quality, all three of mine have held up very well with no squeaks and rattles. Could GM have made the interior better - sure, but I'd have to wonder what that would have done to the price of the car.
AS I've said many many times.. C5 design focus was light weight and keep within the budget.
GM makes Seats for Cadillacs that weight 200 lbs and cost 5 times that Of a Corvette.
Budget and weight ( avoiding the gas guzzler tax stay within budget )
I assume the C6 platform is a great car just as the C5 is, but I do agree on the interior. I was looking at the C6's, which I couldn't afford, before I bought my C5 and I was put off by the generic look of the dash. Not the gauge cluster but most of the rest of the dash, and the word Malibu does come to mind.
Yes, I miss my C5. It's a fun car and it was kinda cool to drive somewhere and have someone look at it in all its shining glory and ask, "How old is that, is it new?"
I liked the C5 so much that I passed moving to a C6, more than once. But I couldn't pass up the C7.

You can come out from under the chair, I'd have a C7 if I could afford one.
First Vette or Chevy for that matter ever (Mopar man) but I'm from the generation where every young boy wanted a Vette at one time or other lol.
I ended up with a 98 one owner with only 28000 miles, real garage queen totally stock except it would seem the steering lock fix in the the the pass side and the 1st to 4th delete. I looked at the C6's but they were a bit out of the price range I had.
To be fair I liked the curves on the C5 much better and of course the hidden headlites. Only wished I had read a bit more on the 97, 98 problems with the ecm control box and antilock brakes. But it's an awesome car and love it!

I've had two C6's a vert and a coupe. I traded a c5 for my first c6 and I loved the c6 much more. Looks wise, they both still look modern and nice. Sold my C6 vert when I retired and bought a c4 vert as a toy for budget situation at the time. Did not care for the c4 much so traded it for a c5 vert. The c5 vert was nice but it was a auto tranny car and all my others were manual. The c5 vert just seemed boring when driving, so traded it for my current 02 Z06....Now I'm happy, and love the Z06. Fun to drive, fast and feels like a down right out sports car. It;s not a dd, just a toy, so it fits perfect.

and were they not at first going to pull the plug on the C 5 ?????
C7 looks like cartoon car, but that is what younger generation likes, new gens always draw criticism, I remember when the 68 came out and all the oh no, ruined the car...ops showing my age.
All I can say is that I have driven my C5 every day for over 15 years and it still looks and drives like new. Still as big a thrill for me to drive today as when I first got it. If they still sold the C5 (with some improvement in quality to fix the well documented issues), I would buy another today!
I agree on the pop-up headlights.
If someone gave me a C6, I would just put it up for sale - they do nothing for me.
I still don't know what to make of the C7 - it looks like they tried to stitch several designs together on the exterior to me and just does not seem cohesive (like the C5). The front end is the worst part for me - looks like they tried to keep the blunt C6 front and add a cattle guard to it? The interior is a work-of-art (would love to have something like that in a C5). If someone gave me one with the right combination, I would keep it, but I am not paying that much for a car to drive on these streets! Driving where I live is a combination of work and fear!
