Hi all,
I'm looking at putting 17x9.5 wheels and 275/40R17's all the way around on my C5 for HPDE events. I'm wondering if in doing so it will upset my traction control at all. From what I found online it will actually allow more tire spin before TCS kicks in and shouldn't throw any codes. Does anyone have anything to offer on if that's true or not? I usually don't use TCS on the track but if I do choose to use it I don't want it to error out and throw codes.
Thanks.
The usual rule is about 1" ± 0.5" taller OD in the back than the front to keep the TC happy.
I have read that some people have run a square setup and no problems, but I suspect those are the exceptions.
Running a smaller diameter than stock in the back means it will be turning faster than stock. It would allow less spin before implementing TC than the bigger stock size.
All that makes sense, Ive seen some people get away with it at the track. What i ment by throwing codes is that the tcs will kick on and off with just normal driving on the square setups. Im just trying to save some pennys on tire cost. The Nitto NT01's in 18" sizes are roughly a $100 more a tire. I usually turn the TC off for the track but it may cause me a headache if for some reason I leave or turn it on.
Thanks for the insights.
