Hey Guys....I installed a set of C6 wheels...with no TPM's in them...I bought a set of Sensors from a member...for a 02 C5 like mine...3 were original and one new...he said they all were working...I went by my local tire shop about installing them...he ask to see them..
Now the question...I have seen how to program them to the car by using a magnet...the tire shop only has a electronic programmer and it did not read any of my sensors...is a magnet the only way the 02 TPM's will program...???
Thanks pounder...but is that the only way to program them..??? I have 4 the tire shop could not read with their machine...so I am not sure are mine good or bad....guess I could find a magnet and try
The expected life for TPMS batteries is 8 to 10 years. Some fail earlier than that, some later. I agree if the ones that you got from an 02 were original it is pretty much a waste of time installing them. They are on borrowed time if they do work.
There is a date stamped into the sensor. Looks like a clock with an arrow. Year digits are on either side of the arrow and the head of the arrow points to a number that represents the month of manufacture.
If the sensors are OEM the only way to train them is with a magnet as others have said. Schrader Bridgeport is on my old sensors...
