Default exhaust removal

I purchased the xs catback.. my question is do I need to jack the car up the same way when removing the stock exhaust? I know the xs the mufflers come off. I called an exhaust shop they want $250 to remove and install new exhaust seems way to high.

That is very high.
If you have your Ti exhaust off (that's the hardest part), you don't have to be near as high to install aftermarket, it is probably in 3 pieces for each side.

You have to get the *** end WAY off the ground. If you have stock Ti mufflers DO NOT CUT THEM. if you get the rear up high enough you can fish them out over the rear end in 1 piece. the Ti mufflers are worth a little bit of money if you dont cut them. Good upgrade for a base C5 or someone with headers wanting a little quieter exhaust.

It helps to drop the sway bar also.

Yep, I forgot about dropping the sway bar out of the way.
Also, I would recommend using a lift or pit if you know someone that will let you use their's. I'm not sure you can get the car high enough on jack stands to make the turn to bring them out over the axle, and I wasn't willing to cut mine. I may put them back on some day, if I decide I want to quieten it back down a little. Maybe someone here has successfully done this on jack stands and can chime in on their experience.

Good luck with your project.

$250 is too much, I would expect a shop to charge 1 to 1.5 hours to remove and install an axle back so roughly $100-150

I think the minimum clearance you need is 36-37". Drop the sway bar and it comes out smooth after that.

I removed the stock exhaust on jack stands in my driveway. Rear has to be sky high, and you have to find just the right angle to get the pipes through the opening but is very doable. I believe it took me about 2.5 hours to get stock system off and new system on, most of that time was getting the car up and down off the jacks.

Took my stock ti exhaust off myself to have the bypass mod done. Did it on large 3 ton jack stands and the fronts on rhino ramps. I removed the rear sway bar, it's not that difficult but you do have to get the back up fairly high.

$250.!!! Midas charged me $60. to put up on a lift, remove my Ti. mufflers in one piece and install my BB's.
They even tack welded them.
I gave the guy an extra $20 to buy lunch I was so happy.
