Default Tire Opinions

looking at new tires for my 03 z. thinking about either Continental DWS or Nitto Invos. Anyone got any comparison info or good or bad things to say about either?(I know that is a stupid question). I wanted to go with a run flat but discount said that none were available in the back size. so here is what I priced today. I do not want to get new wheels before someone suggests that...

continental DWS
275/40/17
295/35/18
and
Nitto Invo
245/40/17
295/35/18

tell me what you got to say.....

thanks

I'm on my second set of Conti DW's, I also have DWS on our Audi S4. Question: Do you need an all season tire? (DWS's are all season). I'v found that the DW's are Quiet on the road, Very Good in the rain, and will hold their own in braking/cornering. The DWS's seem to produce a little more road noise. That all.

My 2 Cents

I live east of Houston so all season is low on the priority list, may occasionally take it to Indy but now that my wife got a CTS V that has gotten farther from reality...

the hoosiers look great but I may drive in rain occasionally...

I have the Nitto Invos, in 265-35/18, and 325-30/19, and they're a pretty good cheap tire, but not able to handle a heavy foot. I would recommend the Michelin SS for a stock Z.

I'v also had the 275 front, but on the second set went with the 255's. The actual contact patch is not that different in rubber on the road, they also seem to have a better feel in the steering, and in my option look better in scale on the car.

I didn't think the Conti DWS tires were still available in Z06 sizes. I have a set on my car now and wouldn't / won't hesitate to buy them again. I currently have 47,000 miles on my set. I drive mostly highway and as much of the year as possible so the all season was the way for me.

The 275 series front did make turn in feel a little more mushy.

F:275/3518 R:295/30/19
Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta

I don't know what's "Best",but it's the best I've had on my car and I've had it 10 yrs.

I would go Nitto NT-05s. The Invos won't be nearly as satisfying performance-wise.

I have 420rwhp and the Michelin PSSs have been superb so far.

I had researched those a while back, do you think that they are narrower than other brands? I had read that a 295 wasn't as wide as other brands of the same size. did you happen to notice any difference between the vredestein and the tires you had before them? I don't want it to look narrower and would really like to go wider to a 305 but no one makes one in a 18" except in drag radials

This. With that much power, you need a better tire than you're considering.

Any pictures of the 255 and/or 275 on the stock 9.5 17" wheels?

NT05's are a nice street tire. Good grip and very vocal as you near the limit. They are somewhere between terrible and unsafe in the rain

That has not been my experience. Drove in torrential rain at the NCM 20th, highway and city, no issues. But, I was being careful too...

Not the best photo of the 255's on the front, as DW's go they give a better Balance in handling then the 275's. I'm running 295 rears, 255 fronts.

^^ 255 Conti DW looks like it fits the stock wheels great. I might have to give that a shot next for my street setup.
