I picked up my Z Saturday, and will change the stock shifter next week.
I had the Ripper on my '99, but was wondering about the Hurst.
Any opinions..
Pepsi or Coke? Which one do you like (see what I'm gettin at?)
Both are better shifters than stock. Very subjective, and many varying passionate opinions about each. See if you can hook up with the local Vette club, and feel the difference for your self. I didn't and went through the Ripper, Kirban, and am now trying the Hurst.
Installed the Hurst and am extremely pleased, but , the only comparison is to the Factory shifter. Installation went well, the only challange was removing the metal plug, or whatever is the correct name for it , that held in the shifter **** from the factory. Would be interesting to know what the flat rate book has in time for a Corvette mechanic to remove the factory shifter ****. Glad I had already purchased an after market shifter **** for the Hurst..
Does anyone have the factory/Corvette reason why the metal plug/demon key is used rather than a more conventional method to attach the shifter **** ? Of all the fine attributes for the Z06, hard to understand what the engineering reason was to use metal plug/demon key. " makes no sense "
They are both great. I had a Ripper on my 99. Have a Hurst now on my Z06. I would go with the Hurst because of the ability to change springs and to try something different.
Hurst is it! Had them all. Construction and materials appear better. Hurst is adjustable to your liking. Get a carbon fiber shot MOMO ****. The **** is heavy and takes a little of the stiffness out. :smash:
Personal taste.......a number of the vendors offer a variety of *****. Some have stated on the forum that the billet ***** have a tendancy to get hot.
Page 44 of the West Coast Corvette catalog will give you some alternatives. I wanted one that would fit in the palm of my hand as opposed to a smaller **** .
