Hey everyone I recently picked up my second c5 z which is a black/w mod red interior 2001 model that's procharger. It also just turned 70k by the way. I'm having a wierd transmission problem that I can't identify. Sometimes the shifter will go all the way into reverse but then when I let the clutch out it acts as if it's not all the way in gear. If I re-shift it into reverse then it will work fine. Also sometimes when I go for first from a dead stop it will slightly grind. If I immediately pull the **** back and then try again it will go in no problem. And half the time it goes in like its suppose to on the first try. Also, if I go second to first then it will never grind. I put new dexron 3 in it but I am still having no luck on these issues. Any ideas guys?
Not enough info.
These cars are tougher to get into reverse. You normally have to hold the clutch up a little from full engagement to get it into reverse.
You could have problems with something as simple as dirty clutch fluid, worn pressure plate/throw out bearing to something as serious as a worn or broken tooth on one or more of the gears.
Are you throwing any codes?
Does the problem get worse or better after the engine reaches normal operating temps?

No the car has the problems at all temps. I'm not noticing any related codes in the dtc. However, I just checked the brake fluid and it looks like coffee 😟. So maybe that could be my problem?
Do you have a stock shifter or an aftermaket one? might also verify the shifter is Aligned correctly, there is a Procedure listed on here i believe Torque posted it or its on his web page.
Check that first. I would think worn syncros would show all the time not randomly but you never know.
Ya I'll definitely change that fluid. I'm about to order a b&m shifter (has a stock one) so as soon as I put that on I will check the alignment. I found a video procedure for the alignment process. But ya I was originally thinking the synchros, but it only does it every now and then. And when I changed the trans fluid I didn't see any shavings or anything unusual. So hopefully it is just out of alignment or needing new brake/clutch fluid
