1. In the picture posted, do I install the whole thing including the bottom part too that has a red arrow next to it?
2. If so, do I just remove the 2 screws (blue arrows) and drop it in?
Also, the tip of the rod (that moves) in Green, is there some assemble that it goes into?
I haven't removed the original shifter yet but my bezel is off for the DD mod but I'll get to it in a couple of days when the weather permits so I just wanted to see if you guys can give me some pointers while I wait so I'll be 100% ready. Any advice or a link to a DIY would be greatly appreciated..!
1. make sure your in neutral
2. the lower box would go in first without the shifter
3. attach the shift rod onto the rod of lower box, here is where I don't know about the C 6 before you tighten the lower box rod onto the trans shift rod, you have to have the lower box aligned to be in neutral, the MGW has a tool to make sure of this. the C 6 box should have some type of alignment holes to line up with a Allen wrench or such.
with the lower box then tightened down the shifter should slide right in .
So do I use the C6s lower box too or keep the C5 lower box as is and just replace the upper portion? Are the lower boxes the same for C6 and C5 or are they different?

Yes install the whole thing, everything in the picture.
Thank you. How difficult is it? And do I have to do some sort of alignment or is it pretty much a straight drop in?
Regards
Yes very easy. You have to remove center console and center dash bezel that goes around shifter and radio. Yes you will have to adjust the new one. There is a locking pin on the front of the shifter you push it down to lock it in place. Just google search c5 shifter adjustment and you will see exactly how to do the adjustment. Pretty straight forward.

I'm asking because I'm not absolutely certain, but couldn't he just take the shifter off the C6 lower box and install the shifter into the C5 lower box, or is it different?

Reason: technicality

It's probably not that different, if at all. Installing the whole shifter and box as one piece is easier than trying to just replace the stick, however. 3 bolts and the whole thing comes out.
I've gotten the whole C6 shifter taken apart. Cleaned it purple power. A LOT of dirt and grime in it came out. Sprayed it again with BP blaster and now it's drying. What kind of grease should I use to lube it all? I have some lithium grease lying around. Should I use that or some synthetic motor oil or something else?
The lithium grease will work. I used a little dab from my grease gun that I lube my riding mower with. You just want something that will stay on the moving parts.
