Howdy folks. I am stumped and honestly surprised. I am in columbus MS and 6 of 6 auto repair shops do NOT know lingenfelter exists...... So to the story and why this matters. I have a 97 vette that sucked in some water through the air intake and threw a rod out the side of the block. Rebuild is out of the question (unless there is some way to fix this that I don't know about). Best low milage replacement is $6k out the door with 80k miles on it. Dealer thinks he can find a rebuilt one and replace it for 8k. So if I'm $8k invested, I though I should look at lingenfelter. Ls3 crate engine plus shipping and parts is 11k. So I'm trying to find someone competent who could give me an estimate on intallation. Does this seem reasonable? And do yall know any corvette shops in Northeast MS or surrounding areas? Thanks!!

I think you need to keep researching and contacting shops....I think you can do better and get more for your $$$. May have to load your vette up on a trailer and take it to another state to get the right shop.

Sounds like you need to be lining up a trailer. There isn't anyone near me either that I would have any confidence in. I'm guessing you are considering a high performance engine since you are looking at Lingenfelter. They are a very reputable company in the Vette world.
I would also suggest you contact Vengeance Racing in Cumming,GA and get a quote on what you're looking for in an engine, with installation. It isn't close to you either by any means, but they are specialists in LS performance engines, with a very good reputation as well.
Cannot go wrong with Lingenfelter or Vengeance, but will not be cheap.
You could call Vengeance and see what they may have pulled out and replaced in one of the many GM products they work on. Possible they could have a LS-1, LS-6, LS-2, or LS3 laying around with someone who swapped out for a LS-7.

It depends on your budget, but if 8k sound steep, then multiply that by 3 if you go to ligenfelter. 8k to fix a Ls1 is insane. I sold my working Ls1 short block for 200$ it had 40k miles. They can be found anywhere for Penny's and in good shape. Just swap over everything and your done. I hate seeing people getting taken advantage of like this. Where are you located?
If you are a4 trans and go to more hp (ls3) you should consider upgrading trans as well. It gets expensive fast if you dont do your own work, (ask me how i know). I have a built forged ls6, sc, new rear, built/stalled a4 a bunch of other supporting stuff, i wont even add the reciepts up until i go to sell car, but it is fast!
