Yes, well worth it. They really became vocal after the long tubes and cam install. I put mine on the 90 degree bend just prior to the mufflers. Didn't want the drone noise under the car.

IMO, it's a question only you can answer. While it may sound good, it's just not something I am really interested in doing to my car. It's loud enough the way it is.
They are a great mod. Cost about 1/2 the price of a catback and I would say good reliability. I've had the Dmh cutouts on my car for about 6 years now. I've only had two issues. One was the switch went out and the other was a cutout motor fell off. Everything was replaced by Dmh under warranty. I run my stock z06 ti mufflers and if I want loud I open the cutouts.
Any long term reliability issues or what about damage to leaf springs?
I run the QTP electric cut outs just before the over axle pipes to the mufflers. I also run coil overs so can't answer about damage to the leaf springs. I would imagine you would have to run them open full time to significantly cause damage to the leaf springs.
Mine are behind my XS Power headers and X-pipe and then into Z06 Ti mufflers. They are used ocassionally on the street and at the track. They probably made more a difference with all the other mods but the sound is loud when open and it certainly accentuates the cam lope when open.
As said its a personal choice and up to you.
I have them but didn't get electric ones. Just the welded in pipe and I removed the covers by hand. They will need a turn down because it will melt the leaf spring.
Considering it as my next mod primarily for use at the track..... Haven't seen a clean looking install on a C5 with an A4 yet, looks easier to do on a 6 speed...

Do a search and you will find a couple of installs done at the muffler as a bypass. I believe member StrangeloveM6vert has done one like that.
My car came with QTP cutouts installed. I used to open/shut them a lot but haven't shut them in about 6 months.
It sounds better than a stock exhaust, but I'm getting borla stingers and x pipe. I want a deeper tone. Cutouts sound good at full throttle but the idle sound is not my favorite.
