Default Tire size?

Just bought some new wheels today now I need tires, I've done research but nothing really answered my question...

I bought the stock size wheels and my problem is, i don't know if I just have ugly tires or what but my front tires now are stock and look like a massive donut and very hard on the eyes. People tell me often "nice car but man you need some better wheels, those tires look huge" the tears aren't bad but the fronts need work.

So is it possible to go a lower profile front? I only read about the rears

Thanks!

Not sure why you feel the tires look bad on the car - I have stock size tires on mine and I think they look just fine. I would suppose you could go lower profile tires, but you need to ensure you keep the stagger between front and rear within acceptable limits (.5" to 1.5") for TC/AH compatibility.

Depends on what your priority is. Is it the “look”? In which case you are not going to get the super low side wall and massive rim (like a 22 inch with a 25 profile tire) on your vette and handle worth a damn.

Your stock size tires have 4.3” side wall front and rear. You can one size up in the front, but you will reduce your side wall by only a couple of tenths of an inch and then run close to having a stagger beyond the Active Handling and Traction Control thresholds, if so equipped, which may cause you other problems.

If you are determined to get lower profile tires, then you would have to probably change wheels again to do so.

I ran 18x9.5 thin spoke wheels at all four corners for a while with 275x35x18 fronts and 295x35x18 rears. This gave me a side wall of 3.8 in front and 4.1 in the rear and was just within the stagger threshold for AH/TC.

I now run 18x10 front and 19x12 rear C6 Grand Sport wheels with 275x30x18 front tires and 325x30x19 rear tires. Yielding a side wall of 3.8 front and 3.9 rear and a stagger within the AH/TC threshold.

But all that said the stock size wheels and tires are not “donut” in appearance unless again your point of reference is the super large rim and super low profile “look”. Up to you what you want for your car.

Also, here is a link to a site where you can play with different sizes to calculate dimensions.

Maybe you don't have the correct stock size tires. Have you confirmed this?

I purchased new tires recently. Asked for stock tires at Big O.
Stock sizing should be P245/45zr-17 for the front. But I was sold 40zr.
Now the car scrapes the plastic shroud on almost any drive entrance or bump in the road.
The sidewall height is about 2.5-3 inches. Goodyear Eagles....

I feel like they shouldn't be that big of a profile but I could be wrong, no I don't want to ride around on rubber bands but this seems pretty thick for a sport tire to me
