Default Starting car in winter

HI guys, looking for opinions. Store my car in a heated garage at 55 degrees. One mechanic friend says start once a month and let run for 25-30 minutes or so until no more water from exhaust. Another says just leave it all winter and start in spring with trickle charge. He says starting once a month will create condensation in exhaust system and crankcase. Opinions ?

IMO, just leave it alone until you are ready to get the car out and drive it on a regular basis. Having it hooked to a battery tender is good.

Yup leave it be, hook up a battery tender and you're home free.

I've been storing a car every winter for almost 40 years and that's what I've always done and never had a problem...

Battery Tender, leave it all winter, start it when spring arrives (last week here in Kelowna BC, on the road since Tuesday).

Mine is normally stored in a unheated garage. I take the plates of so I can remove insurance so i don't even bother with a battery tender. I just disconnect the battery and leave it for approximately 5 months. I always top of the gas tank too. In the 7 years I've been storing the car it has always fired right up with no issues.

My car will sit until it can be driven. I will not start it in between. Mine sits with a full tank and 35 pounds of air. No tender, no disconnected battery. In 18 years i had one no start problem. That was because of a five year old battery, That i change every five years.

We have had a lot of great days to get the car out, BUT!!! This city sucks with the amount of salt they throw when we get a trace of snow.

I have never let my vette sit more than a week during the winter months without driving it. That is unless there is salt on the roads. I have had a number of mechanics tell me the down side of not driving the car over an extended period of time (months). I am not a mechanic and I do listen to experts (and also ask for directions) that provide their input into car care like ET. Just my .02 worth.

It would be nice to drive it every week, but that is not an option here in Wisconsin where temps get to 30 below and we get several feet of snow. The best option is to put it away and wait for spring. My '01 has been put away every winter for 15 years and looks and runs like new. Most cars here in the rust belt don't last that long. Wisconsin winters are real hard on cars.
