My thanks to Froggy and MQQN for their extremely helpful information and guidance on this task. My first time doing this on a C5. Took about two hours total. Didn't break a sweat or anything else.
Installed GMPP Red wire set and AC 41-110 plugs. Couldn't see paying the dealer $509.00 for the job.
Car has 109,000 on it now and I am looking forward to another 50,000 miles before I have to do this again.
Glad you got the job done yourself. I changed my plugs and wires myself as well and it really isnt that bad with the right tools. Swivel sockets worked very well for me!
The dealer has been fair on everything else they have done for me but I agree that they were out of this world on pricing the plug and wire change.
jtpgs1. I used a long pair of needle nose pliers for boot/wire removal on the plug end. The coil ends were not problematic at all. A good grip on the rubber boot and some wiggling and steady pressure and the boots pulled off the plugs without incident.
I have my 44 year old MAC XUP206DP spark plug socket. I bought this when my sister needed a tune up on her 72 Mustang with a 351 Cleveland. It still comes in handy. Add the Snap On 3/8 drive flex head, bent handle ratchet and a couple of various length extensions and you are in business.
Congrats on the DIY plug and wire change. Sure feels good working on the car and not having to pay somebody else to, or worry about them not being as careful as I am.
BTW, do the Seinfeld's live close to you there in Del Boca Vista? :rof l::r ofl:

No, they don't. But living here sometimes mirrors the great episode.
My wife and I are in our mid 60's and are the youngsters where we live. The personalities displayed by some of the more "seasoned" residents. fit the episode to a "T".

Great job, just to let people know, a trick if you don't have a swivel head socket, you can just not put ratchet all the way in the socket and you have plenty of swivel room (play) to get them out.

Too funny, I'm sorry I jacked your thread on the spark plug and wire change, I just couldn't resist.
I love that show and still watch it everyday. It seems like my life revolves around it.
And yes, I think Elaine is a cutie too ***** Post #11
