Default Trailering Please Help..ASAP

So I purchased a 03 z and am going to pick up with my car trailer and truck this week. I asked my friend who has a 02 z for track car where to strap down and he said through the wheels, dont do the suspension. I don't like this idea because my wheels are powdercoated and i don't feel comfortable putting a towel between strap and rim and having tie down move and rub color off rims. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am so nervous about putting straps in right location which wont affect and cosmetics or mechanical stuff. Thanks for the help in advance.

As I understand it, you are supposed to use the slots in the jacking points on the frame to tie down for trailering. I have seen a few posts with links to a place that sells anchors that fit right in the slots that will hook up to tie down straps.

OP, I feel your pain. When I bought my '03 Vert I too was worried about the strap down. I purchased the J or T hooks that go into the jacking locations from NorthernTool.

As a backup plan I purchased these:
Amazon.com: Set Of Four 2" x 12' Loop Exotic Car Tie Down Straps: Automotive Amazon.com: Set Of Four 2" x 12' Loop Exotic Car Tie Down Straps: Automotive

Turns out the hooks I purchased from Northern Tool did not fit in the slot in the frame and I had to use the Plan B Vulcan straps thru the wheels. As my '03 is the Anniversary Vert, special coating on the wheels, I was quite nervous.

I spend over 2hrs putting a triple layer of microfiber towels over the straps where they contacted the wheel. I cinched her down very tight and towed her home, over 300 miles, and had no wear marks on the wheels. Whew!

As a side note a second set of hooks I purchased from Northern did fit the frame, but the first ones didn't. Glad I had a back up plan and it worked out. Good Luck.

Simple and elegant solution: Get someone to give you a ride to where the car is and drive it home. No worries about damage, no extra cost for special tools.

This is the strap kit I bought to go along with it. I just don't use the axle straps.

U got to get a chip in it sometime or you won't ever drive it, if roads are clear drive it home, what's that, three hours? I drive mine more than that every nice weekend!
It will fly bye, a day off to drive a Vette home make sure tires are good!
