Racing in traffic is just stupid.
When I've done top speed in my cars, it's been when there was not a car in site (except behind me). If I was to wreck, I would have just killed myself.
I have come to realize this and it seem to be help by old age. The fastest I ever had any Corvette was way back when I was in my twenty's. I no longer seem to have that go fast desire at 67.
When I've done it I was on a racetrack under very controlled conditions. The more time I spend on a track the less patience I seem to have for stupidity on the street. There is no margin for error on the street.

I have done the same !!!!! but I have been caught up in the casual playing with another car (not very often, but only takes once)
(and NOT in heavy traffic)
I participated in that thread. Ha. I'm not proud of topping out my '00 vert, and I've resolved never to be so reckless again. My '04 Z is leagues faster than the vert, and I've only gotten it up to 90mph or so.

It's one thing to get a ticket or wreck your car, but Murder !!!!!!
No Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm just glad that my irresponsibility as a young man didn't end up causing any major ramifications. I couldn't have lived with myself had I hurt someone else. Thankfully, those days are long gone.

and that is the scenario when I got mine up to higher speeds. And that was many years ago - I have no desire to get a speeding ticket for going way over the limit.
I see guys street racing...this is OKC, "the 405", and they all think they are street outlaws. I see it a lot and it scares me to be around them. I was in OKC on a busy 5 lane street (NW Expressway) a few months ago and a ricer and Charger did the 3 honk thing and took off and I just shook my head. I don't want to get a ticket and I definitely don't street race. I go fast on the interstate passing someone, or gun it on my deserted road by my house, but the rest is saved for autocross. I'm not going to lie, I get the guys who want to stop light race, but I don't bite...ever. I'm confident in my car's performance and I could never live with myself if someone got hurt, so no way for me.
I like to talk trash (usually to my friends) about how bad and fast my vette is...
but I will never race it, I prefer people to wonder if, it is that fast or am I just full of crap
To tell the truth I've never had it over 70
I've been from 0 to 70 really fast but never tried to top it out
I like cruzin' more than racin'
Plus if it breaks I have to fix it
smh. Ive seen the racing in traffic thing far to much. I just turned 31 last month and scares the hell outa me to see this. Im not gona be a hypocrite though. My first LSX was 99 CamaroSS at 19 no less. Lets just say ive learned many lessons. No tickets....but learned MANY lessons.....If im not on the road alone, its not happening.
