Default Question on air intake

I am fixing soon to put a Vararam intake on my Vette, I don't really have much knowledge on installing parts on cars, should I take it to someone or is it a really easy install ? And who would you suggest to put it on we don't have many shops around here specialized in Vettes maybe just a basic mechanic can install it for me. Thanks

From everything I've read it's a PITA to install. But it's mostly about time (so you'll end up paying plenty to have it done), and accepting that it's not a perfect fit (make this clear to your installer so they don't spend extra time).
I'd DIY, or find a shop that has installed them previously.

Whats wrong with the fit of it? I might be able to get my uncle to install it, do you have to get under the car any at all ? Thanks

If its this or something else PCM of NC in Mooresville NC is great. I had them do 2 things b4 a mail order tune on my Trailblazer SS. Prior to that I got a dyno tune from their partner on my 96 Impala SS that was stroked. To sum it up very great with LS engines and worth the trip or buying from too.

"From everything I've read"...
I've never installed, only know what I've seen here in words. As another said, this item has been discussed many times. Do a search on Google (better than using CF's search IMO) using "C5 Corvette forum vararam fit issues", you'll see plenty of results.
You will have to get under the car, pretty darn sure of that; the front attaches to the nose inlets. One guy here posted 5.5 hours (so $500-600 if you have it installed), but I think it's generally much less.
Just make sure everything after the filter is completely air tight, don't sweat pre filter too much.

Installed mine about 6 months ago - it took about 3 hours. The biggest problem I had is that my front spoiler is bolted to the car and had to be removed to get to the intake plenum and the floodlight openings. With the exception of hooking up the MAF and final bolting, most of the work is done from underneath the car. Definitely need to jack up the car. There are several YouTube videos that provide the DIY for the Vararam - just need to take your time and follow closely. Good luck

Good luck and hope the fit of the Vararam is better than most have experienced. But once installed, you should be happy with the results.
