Hi guys I recently picked up a 1998 c5 for a really good deal. The only thing wrong with it is the a/c system will not turn on.
Problem number 2 is the trunk won't open. The button beside the wheel does nothing. The only way I can open it is by crawling back there and yanking the cables. I checked the fuses for both and they looked ok but I replaced them anyway.
What climate control option do you have? Do you have the base setup with just three ***** or do you have the upgrade "dual climate" mode with the screen in the middle and **** for driver and passenger?
For the trunk, do you have a targa fastback or convertible? If you have checked fuse #26 then you will need to check the trunk release relay. Also, the reason why I ask body style is because after you have checked those two if you own a convertible you will want to make sure the toneau cover is closing properly. If it does not close fully, it will prevent the trunk release button from operating as a safety mechanism.

Yeah for the trunk you will probably want to check operation of the trunk release relay.
For the HVAC, the HVAC system in the C5 will throw a code for in-operation. You can check the codes on the C5 without a code reader utilizing the Driver Information Center's (DIC) diagnostic mode. Below is a video explaining how to retrieve codes being thrown. Check that first to see if a code for HVAC in-op is being thrown.
