[Big Pix] VaraRam install
Stock setup
Removed stock box
Put the front of the car on ramps. I do not drive onto the ramps. I lift the front and slide the ramps under the tires.
Removed shroud
Reversed the bottom clips holding the Z06 screens. I painted the top of the clips black so they can’t be seen through the front of the grills.
Ram tubes
Installed the scoops to the bumper. I shimmed them to fit my car, 5 up top, 3 on the bottom. I also put extra washers under the bolt heads to protect my bumper. This pulls the bolts away from the front of the bumper.
Scoops come up under the hood.
Finished system. I replaced the supplied 4mm Allen head airbox bolts with heavy-duty ¼” x 1 ¾” hex head bolts from Home Depot.

Re: [Big Pix] VaraRam install (edv2122)
It took me longer than it should have. I had to lift the car and take the shroud out a second time because I did not like the way the system was shimmed at first. I removed some shims from the top and it lined up better. I also had problems getting the shroud to hook up under the top crossover bar. Lastly, I had to run out to Home Depot to get different bolts for the airbox because the 4mm allen head bolts it came with were not acceptable to me. I stripped one of them and had to cut it off with an air cut-off tool.
Total install time was probably about 6 hours over two days. If I did the job again I could probably do it in about 3 hours. If I rushed I could probably do it in 2 hours next time, but I never rush auto work.
That's what I would like to know also. I've got a black '02 Z06 and am considering my first mods. Have you had it to the track or dyno and have any before and after numbers?
