I recently purchased a 2001 coupe (my second C5). I took the dash out to repair a falling HUD display and dim HVAC display, according to great write ups on this forum. These repairs went great. I also found an apparent aftermarket remote-start system spliced into the ignition switch. I removed this and carefully re-taped all the splice connections. Now, I find I have no low beam headlights. I am unsure if they were working before I purchased the vehicle. The buckets come up normally and the parking lights, DDLs, signal lights, tail lights and brake lights all seem to work normally. The high beams come on when flash to pass, or high beams on is selected with the column switch. There is no power at either low beam connector at the headlight bulbs. I changed fuses 8 and 10 in the engine fuse box and switched relay 44 with no effect. I am thinking the problem is the headlight switch on the column. Perhaps I damaged it when removing the dash. I have the wiring schematics, but I am unsure how to test the switch. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I too recently had the problem of no low beams. I didn't go to the extent of your work, but did the basics of checking fuses and such. My problem was the headlights would just go out while driving or sitting at a light and then a few seconds come back on. It turned out to be the headlight switch for me going bad which they have been known to do. I would check that next. Let us know what you find.
