LED replacement lights for C5 HVAC without climate control
I thought there was a thread somewhere but I can not find it any more. I am replacing the old worn out lights in my c5 interior with white leds. I do not have climate control, it is a 99 c5 frc. Does anyone know what LEDs I should order for the HVAC display?
Thanks
I just put bright white in mine. Not happy at all. They show up blue. Been said somewhere you use a subdued white but then they show green. Anyone have a fix? Anyone got some spare buttons we could grind on?
I sent my HVAC display in to have the old and fading lights replaced with the blue led lights. Got it back, reinstalled the unit. Looked really good for about 2 months. I was about to send in my radio and have it done. Then 3 of the buttons started to blink. One finally went out, now I have 4 that blink real fast all the time. Not about to send it back. Live and learn.
...Same here, changed out to all LEDS (Blue&Red) and after about 6 months a couple started to go bad (flicker). I will say that it does improve the overall appearance and is much better looking than stock bulbs. The mirror lights were the challenge,... !!
I outsourced mine, just got it back today, I did all pure white, but left the stock bulbs behind the red & blue temp sections only, and you can see all of the bulbs on climate control look blue & on the radio they are both blue & white.
I did all of my DIC & door switches myself with pure white & they are white.

Hmmm I wonder if the HVAC lights would also appear blue without climate control? And that is odd how some radio lights appear blue with only white LEDs. Anyone know the sizes of the HVAC LEDs without CC? Im willing to give it a try.

No, I sent mine out for the led upgrade, I did all of my other led's for the DIC & door switches by installing the led's into the factory bulb housings, so I knew they would snap back into the circuit boards without damaging them.

Same here. Sent it out a couple of years ago. Had the blue LED's installed. Six months later only two stayed on. In fairness, the vendor on here told me he would fix it again, but I never pulled it out again. I don't know if that vendor is still on here.
Why do those lights fail? Are they loose in their sockets, or soldered in? The LED bulbs themselves should last forever, or at least way longer then us.
Mine doesn't have the dual climate control either. It would be cool to have the LED's in it. Hope someone can answer your question. Sorry I can't. Bump for ya.
