I have these on both my 98 and 02. Much cheaper than Elite's.
I actually have two sets on my 02 to protect the lighting underneath the car.

Also, the places that change tires use floor-jacks as well. Gotta make sure they use the pucks or you'll be sorry.

Hockey is played pretty much everywhere. I am in florida and can find pucks in every sport shop.

These are exactly what I use. Picked up four of them at Wally World and threw the crank handle away and use a rechargeable drill with a 15/16" socket. I can lift all four tires off the ground in under 5 minutes without even breaking a sweat. I liked them so much I bought 4 more to keep in the race trailer for use at the track.

These are super low profile and you don't need any sort of pucks....for around $25.00 each they are hard to beat (especially for lazy dudes like me, lol)

Jim993- Thanks for sharing this info!

I too use the "leave-in-pace" plastic jacking pucks. While I've not experienced what you did, I did break 1 on initial install trying to seat it against a homemade rubber gasket (used to keep them tight in the slot.)

I should've canned em then, but now I have to b/c the recesses on the new frame savers/sliders I got don't fit around the plastic pucks.

Considering the hockey puck route now.

I have a traditional heavy duty floor jack with a removable pad, with a machined metal adapter which replaces the pad, designed to fit into the slot in the chassis jacking points. Once in place, nothing can move. Does the job nicely, but since I lowered the car a little, I now have to run it up on some scrap 2x lumber to get the jack under.

I wrote this back in 2010 it became part of the DIY Sticky in the C5 Tech Sticky section, post #85
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ck-thread.html

They have worked well for me but I would see the aluminum ones as an added safety factor. Though ultimately I want to install a MaxJax 2 post lift in my garage.

These look like the one that caused the problem. I never left them in, only put them in when I wanted to raise the car.

Got the new (used) wheel well panel yesterday, just put it in. All is right with the world.

So, the question becomes: unless you're also placing your car on jackstands at the jacking points, why do you need 4 jacking pucks?

15 years ago, there was thread using BMW hard rubber jacking puck. They snapped into place at the jacking points. I purchased 4 of them and left them...they have been in place ever since. Since then I have gone through 3 different floor jacks--autocrossing, hpde, time trials, etc. Also I have gone from Hoosiers to street tires, changed oil, trans, clutch, suspension etc. and the jacking pucks look good as new.

As I recall they came from an E36 BMW and with the BMW tax were about $24.00.

If you decide you don't want to make any and would rather have metal I picked up a set last week from supporting vendor Southern Car Parts. They had the Billets on sale for $54.95. Shipped quickly no issues.
