Default Zo6 (age concerns)

Hey all,
Need a little help with some concerns.

Looking at an Zo6 that is in amazing condition. Climate controlled, garage kept, never seen the elements and low miles (under 30k).

The concern is not maintenace/care but age.

Tires approx 7 years old but great treadlife still?
Belts, hoses, gaskets, rubber deteroration with age?
Timing belt, etc?

Am I overthinking or are these real concerns?

Thanks all !

Bought mine 4 years ago with 36k. Tires were 6-7 years old run flats, rode terrible, replaced them with NT05's, felt like a new car. Only belt I have replaced was the serpentine, all other hoses & gaskets are original and seem fine. LS engines use a timing chain, nothing to worry about. Mine has 46k now.

The CAR is fine (mine is now 12 years old). However, the TIRES are NOT OK. I would never advise use of 7 year old tires, esp on a performance car. I would also advise changing the hoses and belts, but that is for your convenience, the TIRES are for your safety, and are mandatory.

These cars are not that complicated. Change the tires, serpentine belt, trans/rear diff fluids and you are good to go. If it was in a climate control garage then even better.

Replace tires. Everything else should be fine. Of course you need to check belts, hoses, etc. and change the fluids if they have not been changed in some time.

Tires will only be good to get the car home and putt around with until you can get new ones.

The belt(s) are an easy job...no worry there.

Hoses? Some might be cracking or ballooned, but most are relatively easy to replace.

None of those items are anything that would keep me from a purchase...

What year is it? If it is '02 or '03 and the valve springs have not been replaced than they should be.

They should be replaced. 12-15 yr old tires really are not safe.

no worries...it sounds like some new tires sometime and change fluids and you are good to go. Maybe you can get the price down for the tires that will be needed.
