Default C5 paint

Just finished waxing my 04 with 87k on it. It gets driven daily by my wife as long as it's not nasty out. Probably only gets washed every two or three weeks and waxed once a year so really no special care really. I have to say the paint they put on these cars is pretty impressive. For a twelve year old car the paint still looks great. Just sayin......

As with anything, it all depends on how well it has been taken care of. With proper care, the paint can look like new for many years.

The paint on my car seems to be rather soft compared to other vehicles I've owned. It chips very, very easily, and my hood and headlights are covered in small nicks and chips. I'm also starting to see a lot of clear coat scratches that I think are the result of drying the car with micro fiber cloths. The paint looks great outside, but under the fluorescent garage lights I can see many light scratches. I've since taken to blow-drying the car instead, but I would not have thought that micro fiber would scratch the clear.

I have found that most microfiber towels leave lots of fine scratches, i use 100% cotton with no stitching as the cheap thread will scratch also
