Would any of you consider trading down for a vert + cash or is it a long shot? We purchased another vert recently for my brother and father to enjoy but our father has gotten too ill to drive it and my brother wanted to get a z as a toy originally, realistically speaking is it a far reach to think someone would want to trade their Z for a well cared for c5 vert and $

Bwu ha ha ha, mho haha ha ha... ooh boy.
Oh, you're serious? Oh, um, no. IMO anybody fortunate enough to grab a Z ain't gonna let it go for a lesser model. Add that I do not like verts and I'm definitely out of this one.
OK, but I'm guessing you both own verts then? Assuming you don't drive a Z anyway, as if you did, and want a vert, well... buy a vert?
Most people who buy a Z want a Z I'm thinking.

My hot rodding days are long past. Touring and a little spirited driving are more my style now.
I am thinking the OP would be better off selling his Vert and then find the Z06 he wants.
Post pics and details about your vert and mileage/year/etc. Maybe someone with a higher mileage Z might be interested. I doubt it though. Once you go Z, you never go back.
I've had two c5 coupes and two c5 convertibles. Never had a z06 and never desired one. The tops come off or down on every vette I've owned. Just like nature intended. Now I might consider the c7 z06 convertible. Maybe.

I wouldn't trade my Z for a C6 unless it too were a Z. And no convertiles for me either.
I have had a few vettes, the only one that was real fun for me with the top off was the 59 !!!! I can't stand even the slightest wind noise so windows up and 130 mph
My last Vette was a '00 vert. My 04Z feels like it's twice the car that the vert was. Z for the win.
I regret selling my Z. I have a coupe now, love the color and the lines, and bought it because it was the best Corvette I could find. A Z in this condition would have been $5000 more. The Z just has a feel to it that makes it special.
I'm not a huge fan of convertibles so unless it was a ton of cash, probably not. I think each car has a different type of buyer so it would be hard to find the type of deal you're looking for. Selling your car and picking up a Z would be the easiest way to accomplish your goal.
Also, sorry to hear about your father becoming too ill to enjoy the car.

I love the look of the Z06, I've said it before IMO it has a chance to someday be a collectible if any c5 can. That being said, I have a vert. very intentionally, I was thinking about getting a bike as a toy but as I did not grow up driving them, I thought it best I not try to learn all the instincts to survive on the roads, as I've seen 4 accidents with deaths within 1 mile of my home and most were simply motorcycles not seen by cars, so to me the closest thing was a vert. So somebody may want that same feeling, kinda(open air) but a lot safer.
Try a FS/FT add in the C5 Fs section, you never know!
I know if you bought a Z chances are you won't trade but someone who inherited one may trade down for some cash.

I would not trade my vert. A stock z is too slow
That is a joke, so nobody needs to get bent
No reason to get bent, there's always a quicker car...
2020 Corvette of the Year Finalist (performance mods)
C5 of Year Winner (performance mods) 2019
the only way I would do it is if there was a substantial amount of cash on top that was in my favor and the vert would be immediately up for sale and I would go find another z
