Bypass the muffler somewhat by welding a pipe between the incoming exhaust pipe to one of the tips. A search will give you a lot of info on how to.

I have a 2001 z06. I installed kooks longtubes, off road x pipe, and had it tuned. I have 0 drone and it sounds great when it opens up. I could see myself maybe doing an axle back next year, but this setup is great for me right now.

Take a look at Billy Boat fusion! I love them two tone, push a button and half the pipes are straight thru, switch back and a more civilized sound comes out, just like the c7's.

So, one of the first things i want to change is the exhaust. As we know the stock exhaust does not look the part and certainly does not sound the part.

Want to do cat back or axle back. I am looking for a more aggressive sound. But not too much. Would like a nice growl and rumble at idle. Would like a nice semi aggressive sound under harder acceleration. But like most people here I do NOT want the dreaded drone at cruising speeds.

From my research so far I have learned that the Corsa Sport should fit the bill. Or the Borla S-Type. But here is the twist. I am currently bidding on a used Z06 Titanium axle back system from a low mileage 2003.

I know nothing about the Z06 system. Looking here for advice as to how it would compare with either the Corsa or Borla system as well as meet my loosely described requirements.

Basically if the Z06 would equal or come very close to the Corsa or Borla it would be a very good deal.

Counting on you guys here!!!

from a cat back, but if you choose carefully it will sound much better. I don't think you will get the sound you want from the Ti. I had a Borla Touring on my 01. Good sound, but then I got this, 18,000 mile 02 vert which already had Kooks 13/4" headers, Kooks catted X pipe and Borla S Type II cat back plus a tune. Wow. Everywhere I go, I get comments on the great sound. Great sound plus it puts out about 50 more RWHP. So much fun and quicker at dynoed 342 RWHP than the stock 01 with about 291. It puts a smile on my face from startup to shutdown?
The headers and x pipe were about $1600 with labor and tune about 500. I would guess the Borlas were about a grand. So the former owner put about 3 grand or $60.00 per horse in it, but oh the difference even with the tall differential gears. I added a stock box K&N AF. That is next. All my hot rodding (old guy term) is stop light stuff!

Really two groups on the forums those that like the rumpity rump musclecar sound, and those that want a more high-pitched exotic sound (Corsa Sport, TI).
